On the evening of July 16, law enforcement departments in Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia, raided a suspected telecommunications fraud and online gambling park in Roka Ko commune, Kompot district, arresting 63 foreign suspects, most of whom were Chinese citizens. During the operation, the police seized multiple computers, mobile phones, and other devices used for online fraud, and the suspects and physical evidence were transferred to the provincial police station for further investigation and processing.
According to the report, the scam park consisted of 9 buildings and was engaged in illegal online activities for a long time, with strong concealment and large scale. This operation was organized by the Unified Command Committee of Sihanoukville Province and is part of a national campaign in Cambodia to sweep online fraud.
This round of crackdown originated from the national anti-gang order signed by Prime Minister Hun Manet on July 14, mobilizing military police, special forces, and other departments to concentrate on attacking fraud dens hidden across the country. Hun Manet strictly ordered local officials to rigorously implement the crackdown directives, otherwise, they would be held accountable and dismissed.
On the same day, a deputy prosecutor in Banteay Meanchey Province was suspended by the Ministry of Justice for allegedly illegally releasing a fraud suspect. Prime Minister Hun Manet ordered an immediate investigation that evening, emphasizing a "zero tolerance" policy for the anti-fraud operation. Any officials who shelter criminals will be legally pursued and not tolerated.
