Against the backdrop of accelerating regulation in the Brazilian gambling industry, the state of São Paulo will welcome a new local industry alliance—the São Paulo State Sports Betting and Online Gaming Operators Union (Sindibet/SP). This union will serve as the official organization representing local legal gambling companies, promoting cooperation and communication between businesses and regulatory bodies, and advocating on legal, policy, and industry interests.
It is reported that the founding meeting of the union is about to be convened, where the legal framework, draft statutes, executive and financial committee composition, and its specific jurisdiction within the state of São Paulo will be clarified. The meeting will adopt a hybrid format of in-person and online to ensure broad participation.
To join Sindibet/SP, applicants must prove their business operations within São Paulo and submit various documents including business licenses, legal representative certifications, and operational proofs. The preparation for this meeting is led by three companies, including Sol Serviços de Intermediação, Betboom, and Stake Brazil.
It is noteworthy that this initiative comes at a time when the Brazilian gambling market is undergoing significant changes: the federal government is intensifying the regulation of gambling advertising, which has raised concerns among football clubs, fearing that restrictions will harm their sponsorship revenue sources.
The establishment of Sindibet/SP reflects the local gambling operators' response to policy uncertainties and embodies the collective demands of businesses in seeking a voice and promoting industry self-regulation. This organization is expected to become an important bridge between São Paulo's gambling practitioners and the government, further aiding the Brazilian gambling market towards a transparent, legal, and regulated development path.
