The Planning Department of Gozo Island, in strategic collaboration with InvestGozo and the international event organizer SiGMA, plans to host a series of exclusive events on Gozo Island as a prelude to the SiGMA Europe-Mediterranean Summit scheduled for September 1-3, 2025, in Malta.
Clint Camilleri, the Minister for Gozo Planning, stated that this initiative aims to leverage the summit's influence to bring economic benefits to Gozo Island, showcasing its unique potential and marking an important step in promoting high-quality tourism and investment development.
Although Gozo Island is renowned for tourism, Camilleri emphasized that the current government prioritizes support for innovative and sustainable development investments, striving to transform Gozo Island into a center for innovation and long-term development. The collaboration with SiGMA signifies a critical step towards this goal, with the summit fostering partnerships that align with Gozo Island's economic strategy.
Recent infrastructure upgrades have also enhanced the island's appeal, including the laying of a second fiber optic cable, expansion of fast ferry services, and initiation of airport projects, optimizing conditions for business and leisure travel.
Ronald Sultana, Director of Tourism and Economic Development, revealed that the event goes beyond traditional promotion, expecting to attract about 100 international investors for on-site visits, marking Gozo Island's first time hosting an official SiGMA event.
As part of the collaboration, SiGMA will hold an affiliate members' retreat on Gozo Island from August 28 to 30, gathering 50 top affiliate marketing leaders to discuss the development of online communities and consumer experiences.
Minister Camilleri recently visited SiGMA headquarters, engaging in in-depth discussions with CEO Emily Micallef, CFO Clive Tribley, and COO Hesketh Farrugia, further solidifying the foundation for cooperation.
