Thai cyber police raided the "jungle area," wiping out a den in a swift operation, thunderously taking down a gambling site "WHAT168" that used AI to forge celebrity videos, and incidentally netting two female streamers who made a fortune off borderline content.
The operation was triggered by the owner of a well-known beverage company, "Istanbul Boss," who reported that he had unwittingly become the "star" of a gambling advertisement, his image falsely synthesized by AI as an endorser, leading to a severe backlash and damage to his reputation. The cyber police responded promptly, delving into the "jungle" and tracing the clues to uncover a gambling platform that had only been online for two months, already attracting over 1,600 users, with transactions amounting to a staggering 162 million Thai Baht!
The police have applied for the arrest of five suspects involved in the key aspects of gambling fund transfers and money laundering. Among them, a 33-year-old man was arrested in Bangkok, and a 38-year-old woman was apprehended in Nonthaburi, both still defiantly denying the charges in front of the cameras. The police stated that this case involves a vast money laundering network with a complex financial chain, and further surveillance is needed to catch more behind-the-scenes manipulators.
Meanwhile, the police also "caught some small fish along the way," handling two streamers involved in erotic scam inducements. 25-year-old "Aaliyah" and 32-year-old "Papalin" lured people with borderline videos, tricking netizens into transferring money to unlock the full versions. Both earned between 40,000 to 100,000 Thai Baht per month, systematically "harvesting" the wallets of their viewers.
However, this overreach led to their own downfall. The police sternly warn the public: do not trust unknown video links, do not transfer money to unlock so-called "sensual resources," and do not be led by the nose by AI-generated fake videos!
This operation was clean and precise, effectively targeting the enemy, and the shady maneuvers of the online world will eventually have nowhere to hide. The case is still under further investigation, with more "behind-the-scenes bosses" likely to be exposed, facing a group battle moment!
