During the critical phase of preparing the regulatory system to go live, the Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) and the Gibraltar Betting and Gaming Commission officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen joint regulation of cross-border gambling operators. This is the third international cooperation agreement signed by GRAI to support the launch of the Irish licensing system.

The memorandum was signed by GRAI CEO Anne Marie Caulfield and Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner Andrew Lynam in Dublin, marking the formal establishment of a collaborative mechanism between the two regulatory bodies. The agreement specifies that both parties will closely cooperate in areas such as information sharing and regulatory support, enhancing the regulatory efficiency for operators licensed in multiple locations.

Caulfield stated that this agreement is an important step in establishing an international cooperation network and expressed special thanks to Lynam's team for their ongoing support in the early stages of building the regulatory system in the Irish market.

The signing of this agreement also echoes GRAI's broader regulatory cooperation strategy, as the agency plans to reach similar agreements with more national and regional regulatory bodies in the coming months to promote global regulatory coordination in the gambling industry.

Meanwhile, the Irish banking sector is also actively responding to regulatory trends by introducing gambling transaction restriction features, allowing users to proactively block financial transactions related to gambling, providing consumers with more protection tools.
