African sports betting technology provider PawaTech has officially joined the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA), aiming to enhance the transparency and integrity of the betting market in Africa by collaboratively combating manipulative behaviors. As the platform supporter behind the BetPawa brand, PawaTech operates in 17 African countries, and its platform transaction data will be integrated into IBIA's global alert and monitoring network.
The IBIA system tracks over $300 billion in bets annually, covering more than 140 brands, and has become a global benchmark tool for identifying betting manipulation and match-fixing. Through this partnership, PawaTech will provide first-hand operational data from Africa to help further strengthen the region's monitoring coverage and integrity assurance.
PawaTech CEO Juri Sidorenko stated, "Joining IBIA is an important step in our commitment to creating a safer and fairer betting environment. We believe that supporting integrity in betting not only benefits the entire ecosystem but also helps to enhance player trust." He added that PawaTech aims to drive the entire African betting market towards more compliance and transparency.
IBIA CEO Khalid Ali also welcomed this cooperation: "The inclusion of PawaTech will greatly enhance our real-time monitoring capabilities in the African market and brings us valuable regional operational experience." He noted that IBIA is currently committed to expanding integrity globally, and PawaTech's technological foundation and geographical layout provide strong support for this effort.
According to the latest report released by IBIA, in the first quarter of 2025, the organization submitted 63 suspicious betting alerts to regulatory authorities, an 11% increase from the same period last year, and successfully facilitated penalties for 17 clubs and related personnel. In recent years, IBIA has continuously absorbed new members, including platforms such as Oddsgate and CopyBet, and its organizational influence continues to expand.
This cooperation marks a critical step in compliance and regulation for the African betting market and provides a new "safety reference line" for regional operators. As compliance cooperation mechanisms continue to advance, Africa may occupy a more significant position in the global betting integrity system.
