At the Canadian Gaming Summit scheduled to be held at the Toronto Convention Center on June 19, 2025, payment and compliance issues will be a focal point of discussion. This summit will feature a dedicated "Payment and Compliance" session to systematically explore the challenges and opportunities in transaction security, user trust, and the integration of emerging technologies in the gaming industry.

Although payment and compliance may not be as eye-catching as the gaming products themselves, they are central to the stable operation of the entire industry. Rasmus Sojmark, founder and CEO of SBC, stated: "Payment and compliance may not be glamorous, but they support the entire ecosystem. From user experience to regulatory compliance, this session will demonstrate how to drive innovation while maintaining integrity."

Key Topic One: Technology Leading Payment Innovation

The first event of this session—"Payment Leaders Panel: Technology in 2025"—will feature heavyweight guests from the payment technology sector, who will delve into how traditional payment methods can adapt to the increasingly digital gaming environment.

Participants include:

Sereena Boparai (Chief Revenue Officer at Paramount Commerce)

Vanessa Hartwick (Senior Manager of Business Development at Interac)

Dan Evans (Chief Financial Officer at Betty)

Daniel Whiteley (Chief Technology Officer at Bede Gaming)

They will share how operators can enhance player experience and expand user reach by introducing digital wallets, instant transfers, and user-friendly payment mechanisms.

Key Topic Two: Urgent Need for Anti-Money Laundering Collaboration

In the panel discussion "Anti-Money Laundering: Collective Action," experts from the industry and legal fields will focus on the backdrop of Canada's upcoming Financial Action Task Force (FATF) review in November, discussing how to move away from the current industry's fragmented approach to build a more unified and modern compliance system.

Panel members include:

Kevin de Bruyckere (Director of Anti-Money Laundering at British Columbia Lottery Corporation)

Dave Foppert (Vice President and Anti-Money Laundering Officer at DraftKings)

Rebecca Ip (Partner at KPMG)

Mondiu Jaiyesimi (Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Director at MNP)

Scott Hutchinson (Partner at Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP)

Dr. Ian Messenger (CEO at ACGCS)

They will collectively analyze the current regulatory loopholes and propose that future national compliance standards should be established through data sharing and industry collaboration mechanisms.

Payment and Compliance Session: One of the Core Segments of the Summit

In addition to payment and compliance, the summit will also feature five other core content streams, including sports betting and casino operations, cybersecurity, affiliate and advertising partnerships, industry leadership, and player protection, forming a knowledge-sharing platform that covers the entire gaming industry chain.
