The Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland (GRAI) is accelerating the establishment of an international cooperation network, having recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Belgium Gaming Commission to further consolidate its position in the European gambling regulatory field.
Under the agreement, both parties will share industry information and strengthen collaboration on regulatory projects and specific tasks. The MoU was co-signed by GRAI Chief Executive Anne Marie Caulfield and Chairperson of the Belgium Gaming Commission Magali Clavie.
At the signing ceremony, Caulfield stated: "This MoU marks the formal establishment of a cooperative relationship between the Irish and Belgian gambling regulatory authorities, and is an important step towards effective international cooperation. I am particularly grateful to Magali Clavie, Steve Mees, and their team for their valuable support and advice during the formation of GRAI."
It is worth mentioning that this is the second international MoU signed by GRAI since its establishment in 2024. Previously, GRAI had reached a similar agreement with the UK Gambling Commission. The authority indicated that in the coming months, it will continue to seek cooperation with more European regulatory bodies to enhance cross-border information sharing and industry governance.
Since its establishment, GRAI has released its first industry research report, promoted the passage of the Gambling Regulation Act, established a cooperation mechanism with the Advertising Standards Authority, and inaugurated new offices.
GRAI emphasized that the experience sharing and technical assistance from the Belgium Gaming Commission have provided significant support for its development during the early stages of constructing the Irish gambling regulatory system, and have been highly appreciated.
