The Philippine National Police (PNP) held a press conference in Quezon City, announcing significant progress in the kidnapping and murder case of Chinese businessman Guo Congyuan. The police confirmed that one of the main suspects, Gong Wenli (alias Kelly), was arrested on May 17 on Boracay Island, hiding with her family and three young children.

The investigation revealed that Guo Congyuan had a close relationship with Gong Wenli and another main suspect, Yang Jianmin (alias David Tan Liao), and surveillance footage even captured the three having dinner together.

According to a PNP spokesperson, Gong Wenli frequently changed hotels on Boracay Island during her escape, used multiple fake IDs, and even took a private plane from Manila to Boracay.

Her parents, Gong Zonglian and Liang Jianhua, were arrested on April 25 for trying to leave the island by helicopter with fake documents, but Gong Wenli managed to escape at that time. The police offered rewards of 5 million and 10 million pesos for her capture, and finally arrested her when she returned to Boracay to continue hiding.

At the press conference, the police also disclosed the bizarre modus operandi of accomplice Wu Jiabing. This suspect, disguised as a "hairdresser," attempted to use a plastic mask with white skin and blonde hair to disguise Gong Wenli, and the scene captured looked like something out of a Hollywood movie. In addition to obstructing justice, Wu Jiabing is also suspected of violating immigration laws.

So far, five people have been arrested in this case, including the mastermind Yang Jianmin. The PNP emphasized that they will continue to investigate the masterminds behind the scenes and the potential transnational crime network.

Previously, President Marcos had instructed a crackdown on foreign crimes, and two Chinese suspects, Gong Wenli and Wu Jiabing, who lacked legal documents and were suspected of crimes, have been declared "unwelcome foreigners" and handed over to the immigration bureau, facing deportation. The police reiterated their commitment to national security, firmly refusing to allow the Philippines to become a haven for criminals.
