According to data from the New York State Gaming Commission, in April 2025, the online sports betting revenue in New York reached $192.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%. The state's gaming revenue grew 9.6% from $19.6 billion in April 2024 to $21.5 billion.
Despite a decline from the previous month's $24.4 billion (which was near historical highs), it marked a 19.1% month-on-month increase compared to $161.8 million in March.
FanDuel maintained its market-leading position in April, with gaming revenue reported at $822.5 million and total gaming revenue (GGR) at $84.8 million. According to operator data in the monthly betting report, its competitor DraftKings followed closely, with gaming revenue of $727.3 million and total gaming revenue of $66.8 million.
Caesars Sportsbook ranked third in total gaming revenue (GGR), with a total bet of $189.6 million and revenue of $15.1 million. BetMGM's revenue was $11.6 million, with a bet amount of $160.4 million. Newcomers like Fanatics and ESPN BET contributed smaller betting amounts, but they continue to make progress in New York's crowded market.
Before the performance announcement in April, the California Gaming Commission released a broader financial report, indicating that the state's mobile sports betting total revenue in 2024 would reach $21.4 billion. During the same period, the state's education fund received over $1.1 billion in donations from mobile sports betting.
In April, legislators also scrutinized cryptocurrencies, as a bill introduced by Assemblyman Robert Carroll proposed potential limits on daily deposits and betting, including setting a daily deposit limit of $5,000, prohibiting the use of credit cards, and restricting advertisements containing words like "bonus" or "easy betting." The bill is still under consideration by the Assembly Racing and Gaming Committee.
Since the launch of mobile sports betting in New York in January 2022, the state has accumulated more than $6.5 billion in total gaming revenue, with nearly $3.2 billion in net revenue for education, including grants for youth sports and responsible gaming programs.
