Recently, the Philippines Bureau of Immigration announced the successful arrest of a Chinese national, Li Moujie, suspected of organizing transnational online gambling. It is reported that Li was arrested at his residence in the Montalban community of Makati City.
He is suspected of organizing and operating an illegal gambling platform called "Chess Victory" in Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, China, conducting cross-border gambling activities through a multi-level agent system. The platform disguises itself with chess and card games, constructing a network gambling chain covering multiple regions.
The Philippines Bureau of Immigration stated that since Li legally entered the country on May 6, 2023, he has not made any departure declarations and is suspected of illegally staying for nearly two years. Currently, Li is temporarily detained at the New Bilibid Prison Immigration Detention Center in Taguig City, awaiting the completion of judicial procedures before initiating forced deportation. The Immigration Bureau has blacklisted him, permanently banning him from re-entering the Philippines.
The Director of the Philippines Bureau of Immigration emphasized that the Philippine judicial system will never provide a sanctuary for criminals from any country, and this action demonstrates the Philippine government's firm stance on maintaining international judicial cooperation.
This arrest is another example of cooperation between China and the Philippines in combating transnational online gambling crimes, showing the joint efforts of both sides in maintaining regional security and stability.
