The Philippine National Police (PNP) has officially clarified rumors regarding the involvement of Alvin Que, son of Chinese businessman Anson Que, in a case. They clearly stated that Alvin Que is not a suspect in the kidnapping and murder case, and plan to amend the charge sheet by Friday to remove his name from the list of suspects.
At the press conference, PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Fahardo stated, "Based on the investigation data we currently have, there is no direct evidence linking Alvin Que to the kidnapping of his father."
Previously, Alvin Que was named by another suspect, David Tan Liao, a Chinese national who surrendered, as the "mastermind" behind the scenes. However, the police pointed out that Liao's claims have not been supported by other evidence and are not considered credible at this time.
It is noteworthy that the allegations against Alvin Que seem to stem from a leak of police investigation statements. In response, PNP Chief Mabir expressed strong dissatisfaction and has ordered a thorough investigation into the source of the leak. Fahardo emphasized, "The PNP has never released any statement documents to the public, and we would not be foolish enough to leak such sensitive information."
He further stated that the police are currently in contact with the media that reported the news, tracing the source of the information. "We are asking the media to cooperate and identify the leaker. We will not tolerate internal leaks, and once verified, legal actions will be taken, including fines and dismissal."
This case of the kidnapping and murder of a Chinese businessman continues to attract attention from all sectors of society. As the investigation progresses, the police reiterate their commitment to uncovering the truth based on facts, preventing misleading information from affecting public judgment.
