Recently, rumors about "the mastermind behind the kidnapping of a teenager being related to a certain Chinese community organization" have been circulating on social media in the Philippines, attracting widespread attention.

In response, Dr. Shi Dongfang, the chairman of the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FFCCCII), clearly stated in a media interview that linking the kidnapping case to the chamber of commerce is an unfair accusation, and called on the public to view the incident rationally and work together to maintain social order.

Philippine media reported that due to the content circulating online involving the "Chinese Chamber of Commerce," they specifically sought confirmation from Dr. Shi Dongfang.

Dr. Shi Dongfang emphasized that since its establishment 70 years ago, the FFCCCII has always followed the principles of legal operation, committed to promoting the economic development of the Philippines, and advocated for member enterprises to pay taxes according to the law, operate in compliance, and firmly oppose any illegal activities. The chamber also gives back to society through charitable activities and employment support, and is not associated with criminal activities.

Regarding the recent frequent kidnapping cases, Dr. Shi Dongfang analyzed that some cases might be related to unemployed foreign nationals taking risks after the crackdown on POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators).

He pointed out that due to some stranded personnel losing their legal sources of income and turning to illegal activities, it poses a serious threat to social security and affects the confidence of foreign investors, especially Chinese investors, negatively impacting the economic recovery of the Philippines.

In response to the current security challenges, Dr. Shi Dongfang suggested that the police could learn from the successful experience of the anti-kidnapping squad in the 1990s, take decisive actions to combat criminal gangs, and increase patrols and surveillance in key areas to improve the efficiency of solving cases. Additionally, he called on the public to remain vigilant, actively report suspicious behavior, and work together to create a safer social environment.
