On February 17, the Philippine police successfully rescued a kidnapped Chinese citizen in Malabon City, Manila, and arrested three suspects involved. It is reported that the victim was a former employee of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) and was deceived and kidnapped during the job-seeking process after losing his job, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of $300,000 from his family.
The police investigation revealed that in the early hours of February 12, the three suspects lured the victim to a remote location under the guise of offering a job opportunity and then kidnapped him.
The following day, the victim's live-in partner discovered that he was missing and reported to the Philippine Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG). The police immediately launched an investigation and tracked the kidnappers' movements continuously over the six days the victim was held captive.
During this period, the victim's partner received a ransom demand on Telegram, with the kidnappers threatening that a payment of $300,000 was necessary for the victim's release.
After several days of investigation, the Anti-Kidnapping Group, in conjunction with the Malabon City Police, conducted an operation near Victoria Court on MacArthur Highway in the Potrero area on the evening of February 17, successfully rescuing the victim.
At the time, the victim was detained inside a white Toyota Fortuner SUV with changed license plates, and the police arrested the three suspects on the spot and seized the vehicle and related evidence involved in the case.
Currently, the police are organizing the case materials, and the three suspects will face formal charges. Colonel Elmer Ragay, head of the Philippine Anti-Kidnapping Group, stated that this operation once again highlights the police's determination to crack down on kidnapping crimes and warned criminals: "No matter how you commit your crimes, we will track you down and ensure that criminals are severely punished by the law."
