EstrelaBet, one of the leading betting houses in Brazil, celebrates the start of the regulation of the fixed-odds betting market in the country, effective since the 1st. The company, which obtained a license to operate regularly, considers this milestone a significant advance for the consolidation of the sector, providing more transparency and security for bettors and operators.
With the new regulation in effect, the official website of EstrelaBet has become www.estrelabet.bet.br.
The new regulation, established by Law No. 14.790/2023, inaugurates a safer and more competitive business environment. EstrelaBet met all the requirements of the Ministry of Finance, including the payment of a concession fee of R$ 30 million and the establishment of a reserve fund of R$ 5 million.
The company is on the list of operators that received provisional authorization from the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance (SPA-MF), being considered as having met the requirements, with pending information or documents identified as remediable and allowing operation without compromising any involved.
“The continuous dialogue with bodies such as the SPA-MF and the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) was essential to shape a regulated and more transparent sector. This collaboration strengthens the market and protects the bettor," says João Gerçossimo, CEO of EstrelaBet.
EstrelaBet was the first company to fully implement the operational flows required by the regulation, achieving international certification from Gaming Laboratories International (GLI). The certification ensures that the company's operation meets the highest standards of safety and reliability.
As part of the adaptation process, EstrelaBet implemented mandatory re-registration with facial biometrics and established a 24-hour customer service center and an ombudsman channel to better serve its customers.
"We will continue to enhance the customer experience while we dialogue with society to reinforce that betting is a form of entertainment, and not a source of income or investment,” says the CEO.
EstrelaBet reaffirms its commitment to responsible gaming, highlighting initiatives to prevent pathological gambling. In partnership with FUMEC University, the company finances studies on the behavior of bettors and offers free psychological counseling for users who show signs of compulsive gambling.
Expectations for 2025 are for accelerated growth throughout the sector, driven by regulation and competitiveness in the new regulated environment. "The regulation inaugurates a new era for the Brazilian betting market, promoting more trust and professionalism,” affirms Gerçossimo.
“EstrelaBet is not just a betting house, we are a gambling tech that puts the customer at the center of everything we do. In 2025, we will continue investing in cutting-edge technology and creating innovative products to offer the best digital experience in the market," concludes Gerçossimo.
EstrelaBet is the best Brazilian betting operator, having been elected twice consecutively at the SiGMA Americas Awards in 2023 and 2024, and also won as 'Best Sports Betting Operator in Brazil' and 'Rising Star of the Year' by the SBC Awards Latin America 2022.
With offices in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo, the company stands out for its innovations in the betting market, its commitment to responsible gaming, and being one of the first to apply for an operating license in the regulated market.
In partnership with FUMEC University, it develops pioneering programs for the prevention of pathological gambling, applying cutting-edge technology to ensure a responsible experience, and psychological support to users.
The company supports both sports and entertainment in Brazil. EstrelaBet sponsors CazeTV and the musical reality show "Estrela da Casa" (TV Globo). In sports, it sponsors the Brazilian Futsal and Beach Soccer Teams and was the only national representative of the betting sector to officially support the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023™.
In addition, the company sponsors clubs such as Internacional, Vasco da Gama, América-MG, Ponte Preta, CRB, and Botafogo-SP, as well as the “Beira-Rio” stadium.
