The Lao authorities continue to intensify their crackdown on telecommunications fraud activities within the Golden Triangle Economic Zone.
According to reports, since the beginning of this year, Laos has successfully launched 9 special operations, destroying 267 scam call centers and arresting participants from 16 countries.
Colonel Anousin Sackpaseuth, the head of the security command of the Golden Triangle Economic Zone, stated that under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Party and the Ministry of Public Security, the Lao police have closely cooperated with domestic and foreign law enforcement agencies to combat the increasingly rampant telecommunications fraud in the special zone, achieving significant results.
He pointed out that especially in combating telecom fraud activities, important progress has been made.
This operation targets not only call centers but also aims to completely eliminate illegal activities in the region and within the economic zone. The Lao police, in cooperation with law enforcement agencies from countries such as China and Vietnam, have effectively targeted and taken measures.
For foreign suspects involved in fraud, the Lao authorities actively coordinate with the embassies of various countries in Laos to ensure that criminals are promptly deported back to their countries.
Meanwhile, Lao nationals working in the special zone have been warned and sent back to their places of origin. This operation is an important step in strengthening the rule of law in the Golden Triangle area by the Lao government, aimed at purifying the security environment of the region and ensuring that similar activities do not occur in the future.
