Mississippi casino revenue up 8.3 percent year-over-year in November

Mississippi casinos in November generated more than $207.5 million in gross gaming revenue, the fourth-highest monthly total this calendar year.

Casino revenue increased by 8.3 percent compared to $191.6 million in November 2023. Coastal casinos led with $136.1 million in revenue, making up more than 65 percent of the statewide total. Northern Mississippi casinos collected $44.9 million, while the Central region reported $26.6 million in revenue.

The state could be welcoming a new casino as discussions continue around a potential development in Jackson.

The Mississippi Gaming Commission also reported that sports bettors across the state wagered $57.9 million in November. With a 13.9 percent hold, monthly revenue came in at more than $8 million. While handle dropped by 7.3 percent year-over-year, revenue increased by 159.4 percent.

Coastal region bettors had the biggest effect on total revenue, generating $4.8 million from a $39 million handle. Sportsbooks in Central Mississippi drew in around $13.1 million in bets and revenues of $2.1 million. Northern venues garnered the lowest figures, including a $5.8 million handle and $1.2 million in revenue.

With the NFL and NBA in full swing, football and basketball drew in the most bets in November. Football led the handle, contributing $26.8 million, while basketball wagers totaled $11.7 million. However, basketball generated $2.8 million in revenue versus $2.4 million from football, which saw more bettor-friendly results.
