The entity not only transferred more than USD 25m to the health sector, but also raised more than expected.
Colombia.- The Medellín Lottery conducted its Accountability to the citizens so far this year. In addition to the results announced, the entity celebrated the fact that it is an exercise in Citizen Participation, aimed at all interested public and that, in fact, was broadcast live on Facebook.
As of October 31, the entity transferred resources to health, for more than COP 112.696m (USD 25m). In Antioquia, 56.13 percent of the total sales made by the Lottery throughout the country were achieved. In Permanent Betting or Chance, COP 43.737m (USD 9.8m) more than budgeted in the concession contract that started in 2021 and ends in 2026 has been raised.
The manager of the Lottery, Octavio de Jesús Duque Jiménez, along with his executive team, presented the most relevant achievements of the Entity and highlighted that “the current administration is satisfied with the institutional achievements, sales, transfers and we see a very important return for our betting public, reflected in more than COP 70.000m (USD 15m) of prizes delivered. The challenge for 2025, is to continue being the number one Lottery in Antioquia and the country, to continue increasing transfers to the health of the citizens.”
It is worth noting that, among other achievements, beyond the financial ones, the Lottery renewed the SC2343-1 certificate in the ISO 9001:2015 standard, for the validity 2024 – 2027. Additionally, it received two important recognitions: Certificate of Recognition awarded by Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), for conducting the Sustainability Report through the Competitive Business Program and the Recognition of the Corporación Fenalco Solidario, for being an organization committed to transparency, by conducting in the validity 2024, the mentioned sustainability report with GRI international standards.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Medellín Lottery contemplates among its challenges, advancing in the optimization of technological supports that guarantee the tools for commercial operation, such as: new App, new Portal, Analytics and Customer Service; continue strengthening electronic and virtual commercialization; advance in the adaptation of technological infrastructure according to market needs; continue promoting legality in games of chance in the department of Antioquia and, of course, continue contributing with more resources for the health of Colombians.
Beyond the Medellín Lottery, the game Raspa&Listo, available throughout the Colombian territory, has been operating in the country for three years this November. Since 2021, the game has contributed a total of COP130.910m (USD29.7m) to health funds, resources that allowed providing care to more than 105,000 Colombians with limited resources.
Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, said: “We are celebrating the third anniversary of Raspa&Listo, a game that, since its creation, has reported sales exceeding COP1.5 trillion (USD341m), which consolidates the incentive as one of the favorites by Colombians”.
