Recently, a Chinese man was kidnapped inside a hotel in Rongbian District, Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Several suspects drove a white Alfa van, forcibly took the victim into the vehicle, and quickly fled the scene, attracting widespread attention.
The victim, Mr. Lu (transliterated), is a Chinese national. According to the police, an investigation was launched immediately after the incident, and two suspects were successfully apprehended in Gongwu District, Phnom Penh, at noon on November 22.
The suspects are Mr. Gu (48 years old, Chinese national) and Mr. Hong (33 years old, Cambodian national).
During the arrest operation, the police seized a large number of items including 3 handguns, 3 magazines, 34 bullets, a set of military uniforms, anti-wolf spray, a pair of handcuffs, and other police equipment. These equipments have led to further speculation about the organized nature of the case.
According to interrogation records, the suspects confessed that they, along with 8 other accomplices, planned and executed the kidnapping of Mr. Lu. The police are currently making all efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the case, to bring them to justice as soon as possible.
The two arrested suspects have now been transferred to the Phnom Penh Municipal Primary Court, awaiting further judicial proceedings. The police stated that they will continue to conduct an in-depth investigation of the case, and called on the public to provide clues related to the case to assist in solving it as soon as possible.
The occurrence of this case once again warns the public to raise their safety awareness in Phnom Penh and other areas, to pay attention to personal safety, avoid going alone to remote areas or contacting strangers.
