On November 26, former Banban City Mayor Guo Huaping was unable to attend the final Senate hearing on Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) due to a court hearing she had to attend in Pasig City.
Guo Huaping's lawyer, Nicole Jamilla, confirmed that Guo was absent from the Senate hearing because she was attending a bail hearing at the Pasig court.
Jayrex Bustinera, spokesperson for the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), noted that the court denied the Senate committee's request for Guo Huaping to attend the hearing, citing a scheduling conflict with the court hearing in Pasig.
Guo Huaping is currently facing a human trafficking case in Pasig court, and she is also charged with corruption in a court in Balenzuela City.
In addition, she faces charges of tax evasion, 87 counts of money laundering, and charges of perjury and forgery brought by the Department of Justice.
Guo Huaping is currently under judicial investigation for her alleged involvement in illegal activities related to a POGO raid conducted by the authorities in Banban City.
