There are still legal bureaucracies and the signing of the contract for the announcement of Palmeiras' new main sponsor. The deal with Sportingbet is the most advanced, for a four-year contract worth R$ 100 million fixed, covering both the male and female teams. With bonuses - in case of sports goals like titles - this amount can exceed R$ 150 million in one season.
The agreement also provides for an increase in the fixed amount based on Brazil's inflation rates over the years. The Broad National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), for example, accumulated until the beginning of November 2024 is 3.88%, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) on the 8th of this month.
The absence of value correction had been one of the main criticisms of the sponsorship contract of Crefisa and FAM - companies of president Leila Pereira - with Palmeiras.
The agreement did not foresee adjustment or correction in payments since the beginning of 2019, when the partnership was renewed and later in a new contract, under the same terms and values, in July 2021.
A detail is that the negotiation with Sportingbet foresees the use of the brand in the master of the professional male and female football teams.
It is a unique contract, with values destined to the budget of both teams. There is no predetermined percentage division for each sector.
Currently, Palmeiras receives about R$ 99.5 million in the sum of the main male and female sponsorship, with exclusive use in the male in all uniform spaces of Crefisa and FAM.
The change will be to a similar value, but for a single space (central on both shirts), without exclusivity and therefore with the possibility of negotiating other areas.
In the male, currently there are R$ 81 million per year, without correction, for use of: central space, shoulder blades, sleeves, lower bar, upper and lower back bar, shorts, and socks, in addition to space in the youth team uniform. The contract can reach R$ 120 million thanks to goals for titles.
The female also displays Crefisa and FAM on the shoulder blade, Palmeiras Pay on the sleeves, and Esportes da Sorte as master in the central part, for R$ 18.5 million. The contract with the betting house ends at the end of this year without a desire for renewal.
Without exclusivity with the main sponsor, Palmeiras negotiates other areas of the uniform in order to reach the minimum mark of R$ 150 million in the sum of fixed values.
A novelty in this regard is that the club has negotiated the "combo" of space in the male uniform and youth football, with the aim of increasing the fixed values of these other investors.
Also, as Sportingbet is a betting house, it cannot display shirts from the youth team. The regulation of sports betting in Brazil prohibits advertising bets in categories below professional.
