BetBlocker has partnered with Yellow Scarf to expand its services to the Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian-speaking communities in the UK.
The program is funded by GambleAware and aims to address the language barriers that often prevent vulnerable groups from accessing gambling harm prevention tools.
The new language initiative is designed to better serve the Eastern European population, which constitutes a significant portion of the immigrant community in the UK.
Yellow Scarf, a charity dedicated to supporting the Eastern European community, has identified an urgent need for services in native languages, noting that over 25% of these groups struggle to use English in unfamiliar or high-pressure situations.
BetBlocker founder and director Duncan Garvie said: "The primary mission of BetBlocker is to expand the languages we can support. As a technical solution to complex problems, ensuring that users have as smooth and simple a setup process as possible is crucial to our success in reducing gambling harm. If users cannot set up our application, we have failed."
Yellow Scarf's development director Tomasz Jarecki added: "We are very honored to support BetBlocker, making their project more accessible and covering a wider community—translating into national languages ensures that more vulnerable people can access support they otherwise could not."
This effort builds on BetBlocker's previous multilingual expansions, including the launch of its Portuguese software in September 2024, aimed at covering the global Portuguese-speaking population.
As early as 2024, BetBlocker also collaborated with organizations like Casino.Guru and received support from Aristocrat to strengthen its gambling harm prevention efforts.
