ANJL Statement
The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) considers the preliminary decision issued by Supreme Federal Court (STF) Justice Luiz Fux on Wednesday (13) as positive and necessary, which aligns with the responsible gaming advocated by the online betting and gaming market.
In his decision, Fux established that:
1) immediate actions for inspection and monitoring against advertising targeted at children and adolescents should be applied; and
2) implementation, by the Ministry of Finance, of measures that prevent the use of social program funds such as Bolsa Família and the Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC) in betting.
ANJL highlights that both measures have already been advocated by betting houses that are undergoing the regulation process in the country.
Unlike companies that intend to continue outside the law from 2025, the bets committed to fair and responsible gaming, including those associated with ANJL, do not agree with the promotion of betting to minors and the use of resources that could financially harm the most vulnerable Brazilian families.
Finally, the association reiterates that the regulation of the sector is in the interest of the market and its associates, and Minister Fux's measure is an important advancement. ANJL will always be open to dialogue to contribute to a solid and responsible market.
