The Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) has released an updated version of its Anti-Money Laundering (AML) guidelines.

The revised guidelines target gambling operators, their employees, and other relevant stakeholders, serving as a supplement to the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority's "Guidelines on Preventive Measures Against Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing".

The updated guidelines were formulated after consultations with various external stakeholders and include linguistic adjustments and substantive changes, especially in the sections on risk assessment, policies, procedures, controls, and customer due diligence processes.

The updated AML guidelines include a version history to familiarize users with the specific changes.

Additionally, the Danish Gambling Authority has also issued a new guidance document on AML inspections. This document integrates information from previous AML guidance, detailing the inspection process, possible responses, and confidentiality aspects.

Spillemyndigheden will continue to update the AML guidelines in accordance with changes in the Anti-Money Laundering Act, new national risk assessments, and evolving practices.

Related news: Spillemyndigheden also updated its reporting requirements at the end of last month.

The updated requirements are expected to take effect in 2025, but the exact date has not yet been fully determined.

Earlier this year, the regulatory body also issued three orders against SkillOnNet for violations of AML regulations, as well as two additional reprimands for violations related to reporting and business procedures under AML rules.

After Spillemyndigheden reviewed SkillOnNet's compliance materials under the Anti-Money Laundering Act, the company was accused of regulatory violations.
