The goal is to prevent minors from accessing online gambling sites.
Argentina.- The Primero Río Cuarto block, from the homonymous city of Córdoba, announced that next week a project will be presented that proposes to restrict access to gambling sites, in addition to creating and executing awareness campaigns on the matter and limitations on advertising.
The initiative includes blocking gambling websites in educational environments, as well as regulating the advertising of such gambling offers. On the other hand, one of the central aspects of the text is to limit access to gambling sites at school, so that students cannot access the pages while they are in class.
One of the promoters of the project is councilor Ana Laura Vasquetto, who warned that "children and adolescents are exposed to the influence of cultural and sports leaders who make them see that success comes from gambling, something that will leave a very serious mark on this generation."
The councilor detailed that they held meetings with psychologists, psychiatrists, pediatricians, representatives of the Río Cuarto Technological Cluster, and with the youth themselves.

The project also has another aspect, which is to raise awareness among parents, through advertising campaigns. "We have to legislate so that education and awareness programs can be implemented, to mitigate the serious effects of this addiction. And also a plan to regulate the advertisements that kids receive from influencers, their athletes, their leaders," commented Vasquetto.
In Berrotarán, one of the localities of the Río Cuarto department, the City Council unanimously approved the ordinance that creates the program "Bet on your future", with the goal to prevent and raise awareness about the risks of online gambling games.
The main measures include the prohibition of advertising these recreational alternatives in local media and at public and private events with municipal authorization.
Access to online gambling websites will also be blocked on the public internet networks of the Municipality of Berrotarán and its dependencies.
Educational centers, institutions, and local businesses were also invited to join the initiative, offering trained personnel to facilitate the implementation of the block.
The Directorate of Culture, Education, and Tourism, designated as the enforcement authority of the ordinance, will coordinate the conduct of informative and educational workshops that will be directed to the entire community, with special emphasis on adolescents, who are the most vulnerable to this type of addiction.
These activities will include social awareness campaigns to educate about the risks of gambling addiction and will incorporate specific educational material into the curricula, with the goal that young people are informed and develop critical thinking regarding gambling and its consequences.
