Leaders of Aigaming met this week with lawmakers and government officials to discuss the regulation of sports betting and lottery brokerage. They took advantage of the launch of the ordinance that established the Regulatory Policy of the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets to interact with deputies Bacelar and Paulo Guedes and with deputy secretary Simone Vicentini, when they dealt with a future legalization of casinos in Brazil.

The group representing fixed quota betting operators and lottery brokerage met with political leaders to debate provisions of the Ordinance that establishes a schedule for defining rules and guidelines for the sector.

On this occasion, the leaders of Aigaming, led by president Waldir Marques Jr., took the opportunity to discuss the training of members to contribute to the evolution of the gaming and lottery activities in Brazil.

The objective of the meetings was to promote another round of debates about the Brazilian gaming market as a whole and the possibilities that open up with the regulation of sports betting and iGaming.

Waldir Marques Jr., president of Aigaming - International Gaming Association told GMB that the meetings in Brasília were very productive in bringing the entity closer to the Parliament and the Government.

We were with deputies Bacelar and Paulo Guedes, who understand the entire dynamics of the gaming sector and we took the opportunity to talk about the future, now that the regulation of sports betting and online games is in its final phase”, Waldir reported.

This future, according to the president of Aigaming, is the legalization of other gaming verticals in Brazil. “We showed them the importance of bringing to the table the discussion of approving urban casinos and integrated resorts as an extra way of raising funds for the government and the importance of the activity, as complementary to what is being regulated at this moment”.

The regulation of sports betting was a simple and unique scenario, but with the inclusion of online gaming, it completed a broader concept, that of iGaming, and allowed us to also discuss how appropriate the moment is to deal with other gaming modalities”, said Waldir Marques.

Lottery brokerage was also on the agenda of discussions in Brasília, according to the president of Aigaming. “We were with the deputy secretary of the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets of the Ministry of Finance. We thanked her for all the work done so far and showed the strength of lottery brokerage as a revenue-generating factor”.

The group led by Waldir discussed with Simone Vicentini a possible start of debates on the legalization of other modalities that, obviously will not be for now given that the agency is with a tight schedule until July to meet the deadlines established in the agenda of the ordinance launched this week.

Another point that the leaders remembered is that a possible regulation of digital platforms needed to be discussed, “a sensitive point within the operation”, according to Waldir.

The Government acted very well in the regulation of betting, payment methods, and prevention of money laundering. But it did not address the issue of the operation of platforms, which work B2B, which do not have specific rules regarding the hiring and accreditation of this solution. This is important at this moment so that everything is clear to the market”, pointed out.

They were in Brasília for the meetings the president of Aigaming, Waldir Marques Jr., Márcio Malta, CEO of Sorte Online, Wagner Sear, RI specialist of Aigaming and Pedro Leal, from Arko Adice.

We want to promote more discussions on these relevant topics for the country and we are already planning new visits to the Parliament and to the Government entities to contribute with our expertise in the development of the gaming sector as a whole in a transparent, regulated, strong, and safe way for everyone”, concluded Waldir Marques Jr.
