The Dutch gambling regulatory authority Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) reports that the system error preventing gambling operators from logging into the self-exclusion registry Cruks has been resolved. This error had prevented operators from logging in to check customers against the registry.
KSA states: "There was a malfunction at the BSN registry, which temporarily prevented logging into the Cruks registry. The malfunction has been resolved. Now, providers can perform Cruks checks again.
"Providers will verify with players whether they are registered in Cruks. For new players, this is now possible again. Online providers can now accept new players again. For physical providers, it is important that they check as soon as possible whether players are registered in Cruks."
This is not the first time the system has encountered technical issues. The launch of the Dutch online gambling market in October 2021 was delayed due to system problems.
Online gambling operators must ensure that new players are not listed in the CRUKS registry before accepting them, which means they cannot accept new players when the system is inaccessible. For physical gambling operators, the situation is more flexible, as they can accept new players without the registry, but they must perform the necessary checks as soon as access is restored.
Meanwhile, KSA reports that action has been taken to remove a YouTube video that allegedly contained illegal gambling advertisements. KSA states that the video was produced by two Dutch influencers who promoted an unlicensed website they claimed to use, violating advertising regulations.
