At a licensing meeting in Massachusetts, it was announced that sports apparel giant Fanatics will use Amelco's source code to support its sports betting products.
Fanatics has long expressed its intention to enter the sports betting market. As early as 2021, the company participated in the licensing application in New York, and last year, it established a betting and gaming division, hiring several key employees within this division.
The company has also applied for multiple licenses. In addition to Massachusetts, the company has obtained a retail betting license in Maryland and was approved in Ohio.
Fanatics' Amelco Source Code
However, the technology it intends to use is still unknown. It was reported that Fanatics had been using Amelco's source code as early as April 2022, but at that time the operator indicated that it had not yet reached an agreement with the supplier.
Later reports claimed that Fanatics would acquire German sports betting operator Tipico and use its platform, but Fanatics chose not to comment on these claims.
While presenting its application for a sports betting license in Massachusetts to the state gaming commission, Fanatics' Chief Product Officer Scot McClintic revealed that Fanatics would use a platform developed by Amelco.
He stated, "Our core platform is supported by Amelco, specifically the player account management system and the sports betting system."
Fanatics has purchased Amelco's source code, allowing it to modify the platform according to its own needs.
McClintic added, "When purchasing the Amelco source code, we 'fanaticized' it to suit some of our specific use cases and will submit this version to GLI certification in the coming weeks."
"We are creating a large number of custom middleware applications to enable the Amelco system to deliver the user experience we want to bring to our customers."
