The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recently launched a 24-hour street sweep operation named "Sinuyod" in Metro Manila, focusing on combating illegal drugs, gambling, possession of illegal firearms, and other criminal activities, resulting in the arrest of 220 individuals.
In the crackdown on drugs, a total of 45 people were arrested, including four individuals captured during a sting operation in San Dionisio village, Parañaque City, where methamphetamine worth approximately 2 million pesos was seized. In the illegal gambling operations, 44 people were arrested, with police records indicating that from August 1 to 15, a total of 918 individuals involved in gambling were apprehended. The operation also led to the arrest of 61 wanted criminals, including top ten most wanted and the number one most wanted individuals, as well as three suspects in possession of illegal firearms. Additionally, 67 individuals involved in other illegal activities were arrested.
Major General Antonio Abellan, the director of the NCRPO, stated that the operation aims to combat crime, curb illegal activities, confiscate scattered firearms, and establish a disciplinary benchmark in the community. He emphasized that the police will continue to enforce the law in a responsible, united, and service-oriented manner to ensure the safety of the citizens of Metro Manila.
