Recently, there have been alerts for Chinese nationals in Sri Lanka to be cautious, as Hunan police have established posts at the Shangri-La and Sheraton hotels, specifically targeting individuals involved in currency exchange and borderline businesses. It is reported that several foreign activists have gone missing after participating in related transactions, and this operation has been ongoing for about a month.
Informants reveal that some of the involved men are physically strong, around 40 years old, and use "currency exchange" as a pretext to approach targets. They often post transaction needs in WeChat groups or on social media platforms to lure the other party into a trap, and during the transaction, they take the target to a specific location, and even use tactics like secret filming to gather evidence, thereby controlling the victims. These activities are highly organized and secretive, and once involved, one's personal privacy and financial security could be severely threatened.
Currency exchange and borderline transactions at overseas hotels and tourist spots are often key areas monitored by the police. Participants must remain highly vigilant, not trust strangers or unclear transaction invitations, to avoid falling into traps.
Attention to those camping in Sri Lanka: Hunan police have stationed in luxury hotels to investigate trading activities.
