Zhang Qiaowei: Ban celebrities from endorsing online gambling, raise the betting and age thresholds.

Philippine Senator Win Gatchalian proposed a new bill on July 1st, suggesting comprehensive enhancement of regulations on online gambling, focusing on prohibiting celebrities and internet influencers from endorsing gambling platforms and raising the participation threshold to address the social impacts brought by online gambling.

Win Gatchalian stated that online gambling, due to its high concealment and low entry threshold, has become one of the key factors causing "family imbalance, deterioration of mental health, and financial collapse." He specifically pointed out the "popularity of e-wallets," which makes the already dangerous gambling behavior even more accessible.

"Online gambling is eroding the moral foundation of our society. Many family breakdowns start with a smartphone."

According to the draft proposal, the following control measures are to be adopted:

Prohibit any celebrities, internet influencers, or public figures from endorsing or promoting online gambling.

Raise the minimum participation age to 21 years old.

Each bet must not be less than 10,000 pesos, with a minimum recharge limit of 5,000 pesos.

Completely prohibit the binding of e-wallets (such as GCash, Maya) to gambling applications.

Although the proposal has not yet entered the formal numbering stage, it has already sparked heated discussions. Especially against the backdrop of the increasingly severe problem of teenagers and blue-collar groups trapped in small-scale gambling cycles, this move is seen as "timely."

Meanwhile, Congressman Jonathan Keith Flores also expressed support and will push for legislation to restrict the use of e-wallets in gambling scenarios.

In recent years, religious groups, psychologists, and social organizations have repeatedly called on the government to strictly regulate online gambling, especially opposing celebrities leading "traffic into casinos." Currently, the proposal has been submitted to the Senate and entered the deliberation stage, with its future direction attracting much attention.

Is he brain-damaged? You set the bet at 10,000 P, only little horses can afford to play, why not just ban it?
