Over a hundred Chinese nationals were arrested in Nigeria for alleged online fraud, after which a local court ordered the seizure of 73 properties linked to them and confiscated thousands of laptops.
On April 25, the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revealed that on December 10 last year, a gang involved in cryptocurrency investment and romance scams was busted during an operation. Among the 792 suspects arrested, at least 192 were foreign nationals, including 148 Chinese citizens.
It is reported that this foreign gang recruited Nigerian accomplices to target victims through phishing attacks online, primarily aiming at Americans, Canadians, Mexicans, and Europeans.
